Giving Back
Caring is a vital ingredient of every community. Through company-wide and individual initiatives, we do what we can to give back to ours.
The House that Baxter Built
Baxter Bear is the mascot and namesake of this amazing event, now in it's ninth year. The way it works: together, we and our trade partners and vendors donate labor, materials and funds towards the construction of a new home in a Charter Homes neighborhood. All proceeds from its sale are then donated to the United Way of Lancaster County.
Thanks to the generosity and teamwork of all involved, this year's Baxter House at Veranda has pushed our donation total past $1 million.
Keith Gill Day of Caring
Every year on a designated Saturday, Charter donates time and supplies to assist a local family or charity. The 2006 Keith Gill Day of Caring was spent at Clare House, a safe haven for homeless women and children, where the Charter team built, assembled and installed new bunk beds, furniture, lighting and fences.
In 2005, the Day of Caring was renamed in memory of Keith Gill, a Charter team member whose giving spirit lives on in others.
Making a Difference Matching Contribution Program
We believe that individual passions have the power to change the world. So we give our team members' passions a boost, matching their personal charity contributions of up to $250 a year.

Toys for Tots 2006
Last year, 11,376 needy children received toys for Christmas thanks to contributions from generous individuals like you. We are proud to continue our tradition of participation in the Marine Corps Reserve's nationwide Toys For Tots program with drop-off boxes at all Charter model homes and sales offices.
If you have any questions about how you can help contribute, call 717-560-1400 and ask for Candy Jones-Reiner.
