Design Inspiration from our Veranda Parade Home
The 2011 Veranda Parade Home won best in show at the Lancaster Parade of Homes. To celebrate, we’re taking you on a special tour of the home – complete with design inspiration, paint colors and insider tips!
As we designed the interior of this home, we were inspired by the subtle power of neutral colors. We wanted the neutral paint colors to contribute to the story, but to let the home design itself do the talking. We injected a palette of warm grays, ivories and other neutral colors, and integrated “pops” of yellow, amber and citron throughout the décor of the home.
A tip: don’t shy away from “breaking the rules” when you craft the look of your home. traditional rules may advise against combining ivory and white, or brushed nickel and gold, we used these combinations to create surprise and give our home even more character.
If you love you’re a decorative piece or lighting element in your home, but it doesn’t match perfectly with other décor, make a statement! We combined a brushed nickel light fixture with a gold frame in the dining room, and love the unexpected and dramatic effect.
Using a dark neutral color, like Sherwin Williams Enduring Bronze, allowed the walls of the Conservatory to “disappear” – drawing the eyes out the windows to enjoy the view!
In the kitchen, we took the contrast between neutrals and “citrus” yellow literally – see if you can spot how we added bright spots of citrus yellow!
Can you spot the citrus accents in the kitchen next to one of the two islands?
We continued to be inspired by bright splashes of yellow – from buttery yellow to bold citron – as we decorated the light infused Great Room:
Last, but not least: Paint Colors!
Useful Gray (Foyer, Kitchen, Great Room)
Enduring Bronze (Conservatory Walls)
Gray Area (Dining Room, Living Room)
Sea Salt (Bedroom #3)
Jersey Cream (Master Bedroom)
Oyster Bay (Bedroom #4)
