Recon Brewing at Hastings Now Open

Today, Charter officially welcomed Recon Brewing to its Hastings neighborhood in South Fayette Township, joining OTB Bicycle Cafe, MindBody Yoga + Barre and Greentree Animal Clinic at Crossroads at Hastings, the neighborhood’s business district.

Recon Brewing is the brainchild of three friends who grew up in Butler County and had a passion for brewing. Together, Toby Wehr, Dave Bestwick and Nate Bacher have developed the Recon brand, which focuses on beers that are simple yet high quality.  Recon’s original taproom resides in Butler. Last spring, Recon opened its second location in Charter’s Meeder neighborhood in Cranberry Township

The brewery’s grand opening event featured a full tap list covering a spectrum of beer tastes — from lager and IPA to fruited sour and stout. These beverages paired well with the handcrafted food options from Steve and Benny’s Chicken Shack, which will be running the kitchen at this Recon location.

“Our model for Recon is to keep everything as local as possible, from our roots in Butler County,” said co-owner Dave Bestwick. “It made so much sense to continue working with Charter for our third location. They are committed to the local community just like we are.”

“Recon and Charter have a lot in common — we both started as small businesses that have grown over time to better Pennsylvania neighborhoods, enriching our communities,” said Rob Bowman, president of Charter Homes & Neighborhoods®. “We are proud to have Recon join Crossroads at Hastings and can’t wait to bring even more quality, locally-owned small businesses to our neighbors in Hastings and the South Fayette community.”
